Data Scientist - Pricing
Job Description:

A leading company in B2B sales is seeking a Data Scientist- Pricing to build ownership and mastery of existing ML-backed production features, and build new ML algorithms to optimize pricing, optimize auction lots and automate other human decision-making tasks such as online negotiation. The ideal candidate has a strong background in math, statistics, and machine learning, plus the ability to translate business context into effective models and data products.

Location: Remote (Eastern or Central time zones)

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate data and domain fluency with 30 days of joining
  • Develop a working fluency in the data model and data warehouse
  • Operate independently on ad hoc projects and write complex SQL end-to-end
  • Produce stakeholder-ready analysis for internal and external stakeholders that clearly communicates results, identifies limitations and communicates tradeoffs
  • Deliver a production-ready auction lot optimization model that recommends SKU-groupings and drives 5%+ uplift in lot clearing price within 60 days
  • Partner with external stakeholders to define the objective function, constraints and evaluation framework
  • Lead end-to-end delivery (with guidance from the data team and CEO) from determining data requirements to deployment
  • Reduce mean average percentage error of the offer clearing/negotiation model by 30%+ during the peak season within 90 days of joining
  • Develop ownership of existing ML solution and begin running novel experiments to improve evaluation metrics within 60 days of joining
  • Design, run, and evaluate targeted experiments to improve model performance during the industry’s peak season, when rapid price volatility reduces pricing accuracy

Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to convey and package technical findings in simple terms
  • 1-3 years of experience working as a Data Scientist
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with SQL, building data pipelines and writing complex queries
  • BS or Masters in a relevant field (experience in a traditional discipline such as Math or Statistics is a plus)
  • Coursework, certifications, or continuing education in Machine Learning and AI
  • Commitment to never sacrificing quality
  • Belief that no task is beneath you
